About This Class
The perfect place to start your jewellery making journey!
This is a beginner's course in jewellery making. Learn to make simple textured ring bands in silver, copper or brass and learn how to measure, cut, texture, form and solder a ring band using jewellery tools as well as some basic items from around the home.
Learn how to finish the ring band to be comfortable and practical to wear, as well as showing off your beautiful work. Discover how to patina or colour your metal if you wish to make the texture really pop!
Along the way you will discover you've also honed your problem solving skills and learned practical geometry and even some chemistry! Explore different ideas in the course and try repurposing old tools to create amazing textures on your jewellery.
A great first class for someone who's keen to get into jewellery making at home. We cover health and safety essentials, the tools you will need or might like to have, and why you should choose one tool over another.
The skills you'll learn in this course are the basics behind most other jewellery making techniques so this would be the best place to begin if you want to get into other aspects of jewellery making.
From start to finish we'll teach you the skills you need to create your own amazing jewellery! You'll learn all the key skills.
Choose this class if:
You are ready to start your fabrication journey.
Are a beginner, looking to start a new and engaging hobby making jewellery, or
Are a more experienced jeweller looking for a refresher or a new kind of way to work with metal.
This class does require a bit more set up than the Lost Wax Online Courses. We recommend our tools and materials kits as they are 10% off the cost of buying individually.
Meet your Teacher:
Hi I'm Vaune! I'll be on video, teaching you all of the wonderful ways you can work with metal throughout the course.
I absolutely love sharing my enthusiasm for making with my students. Professionally, I have been working as a jeweller and a tutor since 2005.
I now live and work from my home-based studio in Āpiti, in the beautiful Manawatu.
I work on my own jewellery, The Wild Jewellery which is a brand I created with Annie Collins. I am also a creative Director for Mason & Collins, our jewellery gallery.
When I am not at work, I enjoy gardening, spinning, chilling with my four small dogs, and caring for a small farmlet.
