Online Courses
These courses are a great way to get making at home!
We have started our online journey with Lost Wax because this is the least tool intensive technique available. You can get by with just some jeweller's wax and bits and pieces you can find around your home, or check out our tool bundles for an economical way to get everything you need.

The Casting Process
Once you have created your waxes you will need to get them cast into metal, then you are shown in the course how to clean up your metal pieces into beautiful, wearable jewellery. If you aren't a manufacturing jeweller with your own accounts set up, we can help you out with the casting part, we can even prep your pieces before sending them to you. The costs involved in this process are the casting charge (eg. between $7 -$15 for a ring) and the metal cost (sterling silver, bronze, white bronze, brass, copper or gold) which varies a lot depending on metal choice and the weight of your wax - it's always thrifty to go smaller! An average sized bronze ring might cost you about $20, plus courier if required. You can bring your waxes to our studios in Wellington or Christchurch or courier them to us. We're always happy to do an estimate on costs for you before you decide.

Soft Wax $110

Beginner

Soft Wax is a lovely mouldable wax, a bit like beeswax but it holds it's shape better.

This course begins with helping you understand the Lost Wax process, then moves to showing you how to set up your working space and all the items you may need. Students learn how to work with the wax and tools,  ring sizing and shaping, how to make items other than rings, how to join your soft wax pieces together, repair joins and solve problems. It then takes the student through the clean up process in metal, right up to final polishing.
