Service Description
Love pattern, colour and beautiful little things? You don't need to be an artist to create your own miniature masterpiece. Glass enamels have been used on metal for centuries to create tiny works of art — from portraits and religious icons to royal emblems and intricate decorative pieces. Now it's your turn to discover this wonderfully tactile process. Over two three-hour sessions, expert tutor Sarah Brock will guide you through creating a miniature artwork on a pre-cut metal shape. You'll start by preparing your metal and building a beautiful enamel background, then choose from a selection of patterns to trace and decals to create your design. No drawing skills are required — Sarah will help you find a design you love and show you how to make it work beautifully on your piece. From there, you'll build up layers of coloured transparent enamels, ceramic pencil details and special effects, firing your piece between layers in the kiln. With each firing, the colours and textures develop, creating depth, richness and that gorgeous glassy enamel finish. Your finished piece could become a special piece of jewellery, a keepsake ornament, or a tiny artwork to display in your home. Perfect for anyone who loves colour, pattern, illustration and design, whether you're completely new to enamelling or simply looking for a new creative medium to explore. Come with an idea, or come with absolutely no idea — Sarah will help you turn it into something beautiful. All class materials supplied.
