Service Description
A fantastic course that's full of fun and inspiration! Create interesting designs in wax then send them off to be professionally cast in metal. Once your pieces are back you will be taught how to cut, file and shape them into wearable pieces. Level 1 students: Learn to work in both soft and hard jewellers' wax and send your waxes away to be cast. When they return you will learn how to clean them up into finished jewellery and/or incorporate them into jewellery in multiple ways. We start with rings but encourage students to think outside the box! Level 2 students: Advance your carving skills and learn to set stones in your waxes. This can be done either by creating claws and other settings or trying the cast-in-place technique - an organic, exciting process. Included in the class fee are all your different types of waxes, sandpaper and courier costs. Not included are the casting and metal costs which vary from student to student depending on what they want to make. Small castings can cost around $7 - $10 and metals are between $0.35 cents per gram for bronze - $4 per gram for silver. Please see details on our Regular Classes page. Our booking system asks for payment to be made via credit card, PayPal or Afterpay on booking. Cancellation Policy
Below are the Terms & Conditions for our classes. For information on access and parking info for both studios, please visit the FAQ page on our main site. General Terms and Conditions for Classes with Workspace Studios Ltd. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure their email address is correct, and they check their spam folders for confirmation and reminder emails. In the case of accidental incorrect bookings, we can shift students to the correct class if informed via email within 24 hours. For block classes aka regular classes, Workspace will not offer make up classes for any reason. Our tutors are very skilled at catching students up when they miss a class, and we can offer a free bench hire at the end of the block for students to finish their project*. In the case of cancellation - where you contact us via email more than 21 days before the start date of the class and let us know you need to cancel your booking, a refund of fees paid (or a credit to rebook) less the administration fee of $50 and any transaction fees (Credit card / Afterpay etc) will be made. For cancellations after the 21 day cut off date we will either: 1. refund your class fee minus 50%, OR 2. Issue a credit to rebook minus 40%. Credits cannot be exchanged for cash and have a 6 month expiration after which they will not be honoured. Students are welcome to find a friend to take their place in a one off class (not a block class) if they cannot attend. Students must follow all health and safety guidelines and all safety instructions from the tutors at all times. We require all class fees to be paid in full before the start date of the class and any extra materials taken to be paid for at the last class. In case of insufficient bookings, or other events* Workspace Studios retains the right to cancel the class, and your class fees would be refunded to you in full. Our minimum number of bookings to ensure the class proceeds is 3. *Other events: extreme weather events, natural disasters, pandemic etc where studio locations are not safe to travel to for the time of the scheduled class. *Ts & Cs apply - not all projects are suitable for a bench hire.
