Service Description

Come and celebrate Matariki with us! This class is ideal for beginners, groups of friends and visitors to the city. Advanced students are also welcome! Students start by practicing some techniques in copper and brass, then move on to silver. Earrings can be studs or drops, and you may even be able to make more than one pair. Come with your ideas ;) You will begin using copper and brass to practice, then move on to work in sterling silver. You'll learn to cut, heat and apply textures that mimic the textures of nature. Print feathers and dried grasses into your metal. Use hammers to create water and bark like patterns. Choose your favourite technique and create a beautiful silver pendant or a pair of earrings that give you a lasting memory of this year's Matariki celebrations! Included in the class fee are copper and brass for practising on, up to 6 grams of sterling silver and all consumables such as sandpaper, solder and chemicals. Extra metals and chains are available for purchase in the studio. Kids aged 12 (or so) are welcome to attend the class, but any person under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an enrolled parent or caregiver.
